Playing host for the NFC’s Divisional Round on January 7, 1995, the San Francisco 49ers welcomed the Chicago Bears — 17½-point underdogs — to an environment offering 30-mile winds, rainfall, and perhaps most importantly, an offensive avalanche that couldn’t be contained. Invaluable in his role, Brent Jones helps San Francisco deliver an early-game message, utilizing pre-snap motion to gather intel on Chicago’s defense before locating a soft spot in its zone for an eight-yard touchdown. One of the great pass-catchers in 49ers history, Jones hauled in five catches for 26 yards and a touchdown, helping guide San Francisco to both a 44-15 victory and a date with a familiar foe in the following week’s NFC Championship.
