Having already rewritten the Chargers’ history books throughout his standout Year One, Ladd McConkey’s greatness — during Los Angeles’ biggest play of 2024-25 — allowed sights to settle on something bigger: the NFL record column. Finding his offense to be a level beyond desperate on 3rd & 26, McConkey showcased concentration on a contested middle-of-the-field snag, keeping the needed balance to parlay it into an 86-yard score. The play resusitated the Chargers’ could-be comeback hopes, but the Houston Texans ultimately dashed said inspirations in a 32-12 win on Jan. 11, 2025. Year One didn’t end without one more jaw-dropping box score display, though, as McConkey turned in a nine-catch, 197-yard, one-touchdown afternoon, slotting him into No. 1 on the NFL postseason’s all-time single-game rookie receiving yards leaderboard.
