Touchdowns and montage-worthy runs had already become staples during David Montgomery’s first month-and-a-half in the NFL, but on Oct. 27, 2019, Chicago’s then-newcomer took things to a whole different level. Poetically “lightning-quick” against the Bolts’ defense, Montgomery stamped his rookie season’s finest performance with a 55-yard tote that put the Bears in scoring position. A quarter later, Montgomery finished the big-play “bingo board” completely, finding paydirt on a four-yard scoring play. A second-half comeback by the Los Angeles Chargers prompted a 17-16 loss, but Montgomery was a workhorse nonetheless, turning a whopping 31 touches into 147 yards and a touchdown.
