Overcoming a three-touchdown deficit in Super Bowl XXXVII’s final six minutes certainly had the look of something impossible, but for Jerry Rice — somehow still stringing together 1,200-yard seasons in his 40s — “impossible” simply wasn’t a word in his vocabulary. Oakland’s Hall of Fame-bound receiver gave a comeback attempt his best shot, breaking free along the middle of the field for a 48-yard touchdown that left the Raiders within striking distance. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ brilliant defense wouldn’t be denied glory on Jan. 26, 2003, but despite the 48-21 loss, Rice remained unstoppable in his later years, leading the receiver room through a five-catch, 77-yard, one-touchdown display.
